What is preparedness?

So what is preparedness? As Wikipedia writes about preparedness:

Preparedness refers to a very concrete research based set of actions that are taken as precautionary measures in the face of potential disasters. These actions can include both physical preparations (such as emergency supplies depots, adapting buildings to survive earthquakes and so on) and trainings for emergency action.

So preparedness is not just about emergency supplies and the physical aspect, but also knowledge and training. We are here to give your knowledge about preparedness and survival so you can do the right thing. Both before and after a small or big disaster.

So why do you need to prepare for survival?

The world is a dangerous place. One thing is the nature itself. Yearly we have hurricanes and storms that destroy property and the life of so many families. Earthquakes and flooding is another big concern. An outbreak of dangerous diseases that will make whole populations sick and at some death. This is natural disasters, now some will tell you that this is also human disasters because of pollution, but this is a topic for another site.

Human disasters as wars, a breakdown of important infrastructure as power plants and economic disasters are also something we should be concerned about and preparing us for.

Now this sounds very pessimistic and most likely you will not experience those challenges. Most likely your house will not burn, but you have fire insurance for your house. This is about the same. You prepare yourself for what may come and this will be the difference between a life in ruin or a good life. And also about life and death. Abius some experience the disasters, those of them who are prepared will be thankful for the effort. Most of them who experience it will struggle because they were not prepared.

A little preparation will help you in these times and can be the difference between life and death. You don’t need to do much. You don’t need to start with a full nuclear disaster.  If you have the basic, you have mostly what you need for every situation.

Even a vacation or a hike in the wilderness can be a disaster if you are not prepared for some of the things that can happen. A small first aid kit can be what saves you.

You can read more why you should prepare for disasters in our article.

You don’t need to do much to be prepared

So what do you need to be prepared? As the headline tells us, you don’t need much in the beginning. A storage of food and ways to clean the water is the basic. And you will come a long way with the basic. As you learn more you can expand to more advanced preparation if you want. Or you can stay with the basic survival kit and expand on the knowledge. Every man needs to decide for them self what is the possible dangerous situations they need to prepare for at their location and in their situation.

You can read more here about the survival kit.

But now is the time for you and your family to survive the disaster. In a disaster, someone can be injured. Especially if you loved one is injured, you will be very happy to know basic first aid so you can help them. First aid is something everyone should know and be able to do.
